How to Qualify for a Kentucky Medical Marijuana Certification
In a historic move Governor Andy Beshear issued an executive order allowing Kentuckians diagnosed with certain medical conditions and or receiving palliative care to purchase, posses, and use medical cannabis!
Thus this Executive Order 2022-798 provides relief to Kentuckians and allowing those suffering from chronic pain and other medical conditions to use medical cannabis if four requirements are met.
What medical conditions qualify for medical cannabis?
Patients diagnosed from a healthcare provider (Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy in good standing) shows the individual has been diagnosed with one of 21 identified medical conditions, including:
- Cancer
- Chronic Pain
- Epilepsy
- Intractable Seizures
- Intractable Pain
- Arthritis
- Neuropothies
- PTSD
- Glaucoma
- Parkinson’s Disease
- A Terminal Illness
- Nausea
- Crohn’s Disease
- Muscle Spasms
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Sickle Cell Anemia
- Autism
- HIV
- AIDS
- Severe Arthritis
- Hepatitis C
- Fibromyalgia
What Are the Four Requirements Needed for Legal Protection?
- Must be lawfully purchased: The medical cannabis shall be lawfully purchased in a jurisdiction within the United States that is a legal selling state.
- Keep your receipt: The individual shall produce a receipt for the purchase, showing date, location, and physical purchase.
- Only enough for you: Amount in possession shall not exceed eight ounces.
- Doctor’s note required: The individual or their caregiver (parent or guardian who purchased) shall produce a written cannabis certification from the health provider (Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy only) that shows the individual or patient has been diagnosed with one of the 21 identified medical conditions listed
